Finance tools shouldn't demand your privacy as payment.

We believe you can have the convenience of modern AI and the security of a local spreadsheet. You shouldn't have to choose.

The Problem with "Free" Finance Apps

For years, the standard deal in personal finance software was simple but predatory: "We give you a pretty dashboard; you give us your bank login and transaction history."

As a former VP of Strategic Planning and Product Executive, I've sat in the boardrooms where these decisions are made. I know that when a product is "free" (or even cheap), the data is often the real revenue stream.

I wanted a tool that could handle complex financial modeling—the kind I used to run billion-dollar portfolios—but I wanted it to run locally on my Mac, without sending a single byte to a third-party server.

It didn't exist. So I built it.

Systems Thinking + Engineering Discipline

Canopy isn't just a side project. It is the application of Systems Thinking to personal wealth.

Most finance apps are just "expense trackers." Canopy is designed as a decision-making engine. It uses the same principles I've applied to transform enterprise workflows:

  • Evidence over Opinion: Data-driven insights, not generic advice.
  • Outcomes over Output: Focus on net worth growth, not just categorization.
  • Privacy by Design: Your keys, your data, your device.
